Measure before you buy
A practical checklist for furniture, rugs and lighting.
Measure the available footprint
Record width, depth and height in the same units used by the listing. Include doors, skirting boards and sockets that reduce usable space. Use removable tape to mark the outline on the floor and walk around it during a normal day.
Check the route and moving parts
Measure doorways, stairs and narrow turns along the delivery route. For storage, allow space for the drawer or door to open. For an arc lamp, include its reach and base; the height alone does not describe its footprint.
Check the exact variant
Similar listing images can represent several sizes or finishes. Match the ASIN, selected size and color to the item you intend to order. The measurements recorded in our collection do not replace the seller’s current specification.
Plan for use and care
